On 16 October 2025, the Sustainability Process Certification (SPC) initiative reached a key milestone with its first Stakeholder Committee meeting, advancing the development of a robust and credible framework to simplify the demonstration of compliance with environmental requirements and the substantiation of voluntary environmental claims.
Developed by members of the TIC Council, the Sustainability Process Certification reflects a collective effort by the testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) industry to respond to growing market, consumer, and regulatory expectations. As highlighted by Director General Hanane Taidi during the meeting, the initiative aims to provide a reliable and harmonised framework to support environmental reporting and circular economy processes.
Originally launched in the context of the EU Green Claims Directive, the Scheme has since evolved into a broader, more versatile tool. It is designed to support a wide range of use cases, including environmental reporting, product environmental declarations, digital product passports, and circular economy-related processes across sectors.
Stakeholders broadly supported SPC's approach as a way to streamline companies uses of their environmental data. This reflects TIC industry's commitment to supporting the industry in their compliance and sustainability journeys
The Stakeholder Committee meeting brought together a diverse group of participants from industry, standards bodies, and environmental programme operators. Discussions focused on the Scheme’s governance structure, technical methodologies, and marketing strategy. The insights and feedback shared during these exchanges will play a crucial role in shaping the next phase of the Scheme’s development and ensuring it responds to real market needs.
The Stakeholder Committee will meet twice a year. TIC Council will aim to expand its stakeholder community for each session.
